Green Family Foundation and Firstrust Bank call for scholarship submissions

January 9, 2022

The Green Family Foundation and Firstrust Bank are now accepting submissions for the 53rd annual Samuel A. Green Scholarship Program. College-bound high school seniors are invited to compete for academic scholarships totaling $180,000.

Eligible to apply for the Samuel A. Green Scholarship are high school graduating seniors from a public, private, parochial or charter school, or a home-schooled student or technical school graduate and GED recipient, who plans to attend a four-year, not-for-profit, accredited college or a community college. The Samuel A. Green Scholarship is available only to legal United States residents or citizens living or attending school within the Greater Philadelphia or Lehigh Valley areas. Applicants already attending college or who are at least 30 years old will not be considered.

Scholars will receive a one-year award ranging from $2,500 to $10,000 toward their first year of college. Those attending community college are eligible to receive awards ranging from $1,000 to $5,000.
Students must submit an essay of 300 words or less that answers the question: “How will you use your college education to help make a substantial impact in your community?”

Based on the submitted essays, the top 75 applicants will be semi-finalists. Semi-finalists will then need a letter of recommendation to attest to their demonstrated leadership.

Students must apply online on or before March 6. For more information and other rules and details about the scholarship, visit https://www.greenfamilyfoundation.org/samuel-a-green-scholarship
